Update

So I haven't posted in a while, but I have been doing some pretty sweet things lately.
I had a week long trip to Eagle Glacier, Alaska. It's only a 30 minute drive to Girdwood, then we take a 5 minute helicopter ride to the house on the glacier.
There are some spectacular views in that 5 minute ride.
You can see the building in the picture above. APU currently owns this building, It's a great facility that allows us to ski even in the summer. The house is pretty nice considering it is on a glacier in the middle of no where.
We had some blue sky days, with great tracks..
..and some days were foggy and very slushy, making the 3 hours skis in ankle deep slush seem like marathons.

Lots of good video sessions. This is a picture of my coach Erik Flora critiquing my technique from the workout that morning.
We also got a new Pisten Bully(track groomer), which is very exciting for us APU'ers. This means perfect tracks! Our old machine was old and the coaches had to put an hour work into it for every hour they ran it. Also, the new piston bully has the capability of laying tracks, before they had to use a snowmobile for that.

It needed to be taken apart and lifted up in chunks because it was to heavy for the helicopter to lift in one peace.

My birthday was on the 14th, turned 2o! I did a little bit of celebrating with some friends and went camping.
Hour and a half hike from Anchorage with packs and we are at the top of little O'Maley. Beautiful camping spot!
Anchorage in the distance..
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer! Keep posted for more updates.

University Fundraiser

Last Thursday night the Alaska Pacific University had a very nice fundraiser dinner. The dinner had a live auction, silent auction, good food, and music. The ski teams job was to mingle with the group and make sure everyone was having a fun time. I met a lot of great people. One of the first items that was auctioned of was a trip in a private jet to anywhere on the west coast. Crazy! I know.

The stage and the plane that was getting auctioned of.

Then during the middle of live auction, both the men's and women's teams auctioned of an item. Of course it became a competition between us to see who could get the highest bid. The women auctioned of a dinner for a group or couple. The men did a day of manual labor and dinner... Yea, the men won.

The girls all dressed up and ready to rollerski up onto stage

Hope everyone had a great 4th of july. I had a sweet weekend of camping with some friends in Sewerd, Alaska, and then watching the race on monday. Good job to Kikkan Randall and Eric Strabel for winning Mt. Marathon.

I leave for a week of skiing on Eagle Glacier tomorrow. I will try to update when I get back.
